Spiritual Practice – Washing our own hands is our most common way of getting proximate to our flesh.  Shaking someone else's hand is how we get proximate to others.  At this station, you are invited to practice proximity just as Veronica got proximate to Jesus. 
If you are alone on this journey, dip your hands in the water and take a moment to wash your hands.  Be mindful as you do of who you have chosen to get proximate to this day, and who is waiting to shake your hand in the days to come.
If you are with others, wash the hands of another. As you do, you are invited to say the following benediction, “May the work of your hands be blessed, and may you use them to get proximate with others.” Take turns sharing this opportunity.

Social Action – The Death Penalty Action group works to stop executions and abolish the death penalty.  They are committed to becoming proximate with each inmate on death row at the moment of their execution by hosting prayer vigils outside the prison walls in the days and hours leading up to the execution. At one of their vigils, they were able to receive a phone call from an inmate named Bud the day before his execution. Práctica Espiritual — De lavarnos las manos es nuestra forma más común de acercarnos a nuestra carne. Darle la mano a otra persona o incluso lavarse sus manos es la forma en que nos acercamos a los demás. En esta estación, estás invitado a practicar la proximidad tal como Verónica se acercó a Jesús.
Si estás solo en este recorrido, sumerja sus manos en el agua y tómese un momento para lavarse las manos. Al hacerlo, tenga en cuenta a quién has elegido de acercarse a este día y quién está esperando para estrecharle la mano en los días que vienen.
Si estás con otros, estás invitado a lavarle las manos a otros. Al hacerlo, se te invita a decir la siguiente bendición: “Que el trabajo de tus manos sea bendito y que las uses para acercarte a los demás.” Hagan turnos compartiendo esta oportunidad.

Acción Social — Pena de Muerte grupo de acción trabaja para detener las ejecuciones y abolir la pena de muerte. Están comprometidos a acercarse a cada recluso en el corredor de la muerte en el momento de su ejecución organizando vigilias de oración fuera de los muros de la prisión en los días y horas previos a la ejecución. En una de sus vigilias, pudieron recibir una llamada telefónica de un recluso llamado Bud el día antes de su ejecución.
